  • Police Officers Lack Mental Health Support

A Police Federation survey of 17,000 officers in 2016 showed that 39% were seeking help with mental health issues. More than 25% of officers who have taken sick leave attributed it to stress, depression and anxiety, while 65% said that they still went to work even though they felt they shouldn’t have because of the state of their mental wellbeing.

  • Are Police Suffering with Foot Pain?

Police officers spend a lot of time on their feet. Foot pain for police officers is a very common part of their job.

  • Security Guards Lack Mental Health Support

In the spring of 2020 researchers at Portsmouth University found that 40% of security guards in the UK were suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), after being exposed to verbal and physical abuse.
  • NHS Waiting Lists Could Lead to Thousands of Deaths

Cancer Research found that almost 3 in 10 cancer patients had their treatment disrupted when the NHS suspended much of its normal care to focus on Covid-19.

  • Body Armour is Causing Pain in Police Officers

More than half of police officers when questioned in a survey said that they were suffering injuries due to their uniform.

6 out of 10 respondents said they had suffered “pain or injury” as a result of their uniform and 28% said their uniform made pre-existing injuries worse. More than half said the uniform hindered their ability to do their jobs properly.

  • Urgent Action Needed to Diversify the Police

Cressida Dick, the Met commissioner has previously stated “It will be 100 years before the police represent its community”

  • Security Shortages Affect the Night-Time Industry

Many sectors are exempt when they get “pinged” from the Covid contact tracing app, including NHS workers and any other emergency workers. However, those in security are still having to self-isolate if they come into close contact with someone who has tested positive.
